LJUBICA LETINIĆ AND BLOK: RADIO BAZA
THREE-DAY RADIO STATION
13 – 15/06/2019 FROM 6 PM
93.9 MHz, BROADCAST FROM ADŽIJINA 11
For the third consecutive year Adžijina 11 will see a gathering of artists, radiophonicists, researchers, activists and musicians in the joint production of critical and educational programs, and artistic and radiophonic experiments. This year it spans three days, but the mission is the same: Radio BAZA seeks to revive the oldest electronic medium as a space of feminist historical heritage.
Inspired by a verse by poet Marija Andrijašević, “It’s a struggle, I’m wilding like the Sioux,” our program opens with a discussion about the feminist history of popular music. Who makes the feminist canon of popular music? Which genres dominate it and why? How is it affected by the popularisation of feminism? This Thursday in studio Divan we will be talking to Dijana Grubor, Domagoj Kučinić, Jordi Ilić and Nina Maštruko, with Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, Jenny Hval, Princess Nokia and many others riding the radio waves.
On Friday we chew the fat with none other than Marija Andrijašević, play live music with Ivana Starčević, All Stars Band and the Radiophonic Collective, and we read the proletarian poetry of the 1930’s.
On Saturday we sign-off of Trešnjevka through – Trešnjevka. The Glas Trešnjevke (The Voice of Trešnjevka) paper will clue us in on how the workers fleeing poor urban housing conditions founded today’s Trešnjevka. We will hear about who the first vendors at the Trešnjevka market were and what sorts of problems they faced, and a review of an exhibition by the Zemlja Association of Artists will let us know how the inhabitants of Trešnjevka felt about the then contemporary citizen artists. The sounds of sanisint, a synthesizer patented by Trešnjevka inhabitant Saniboj Žugić, will take us away from the interbellum period and into the late seventies. Anamarija Žugić will tell us more about Saniboj’s musical experiments in studio Divan.
Tune in at 93.9 Mhz!
