TREŠNJEVKA NEIGHBOURHOOD MUSEUM – THE FIRST GATHERING OF CONTRIBUTIONS FOR A VIRTUAL COLLECTION
Call to the neighbours!
Do you have a photograph or an item that marks a moment in Trešnjevka`s history? An old photograph of the Trešnjevka market? A ready-made Vesna skirt? A box of Bizjak cookies?
Bring them to us to record and help us create together a virtual collection of the Trešnjevka Neighbourhood Museum– the future district museum that will give value to the community stories that are not part of the official history.
Trešnjevka emerged as a working-class district along the growing industry of Zagreb between the two world wars. The difficult living conditions motivated the people of Trešnjevka to turn to each other for resolving social needs. Although today it is the largest Zagreb district, that powerful feeling of community is still present.
The rich district history has been, in greater part, preserved in private photo albums, stories and memories of the inhabitants of Trešnjevka. We believe it is significant to collect it and make it accessible to everyone and thus pay homage to Trešnjevka, its people, places, stories and a rich working-class history.
This is why we invite you to give your own contribution to the virtual Trešnjevka Neighbourhood Museum.
We will be waiting for you at the Baza, Adžijina 11, between October 10 and 16, 2019, working days from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. and weekends between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
We shall not take the items and photographs you bring, but only photograph them professionally for the of the virtual collection.
