STRAIGHT FROM WORK TO A CONCERT, ON A MOTORBIKE: GATHERING MATERIALS FOR THE VIRTUAL COLLECTION OF THE TREŠNJEVKA NEIGHBORHOOD MUSEUM
Wednesday, June 4, 2025
3 – 7 PM
Nova BAZA, Nova cesta 66
We are in the 1980s, somewhere near the Stara Trešnjevka Park. Saniboj Žugić, musician and electronics engineer from Trešnjevka, is cruising the neighborhood on his motorbike. He is wearing a T-shirt with the logo of the legendary Purger Pizzeria in Ozaljska (then Končareva street), where he used to work at the time. He spent all his life around this location: the intersection of Končareva and Žumberačka. He was a familiar name within Trešnjevka and Zagreb musician circles in the 1970s and 1980s. His apartment was a vinyl listening space, he combined various music genres in his sets, tuned in instruments and repaired gear, and he created probably the first Yugoslav modular synthesizer – Sanisint.
On May 28, at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, we opened the exhibition "Sanisint – Fragments of a Creative Universe". The exhibition stays open until June 15. In the meantime, we will continue discovering and adding to our virtual collection similar stories from Trešnjevka’s history. You don’t have to be a famous musician to share your memories from Trešnjevka. We would like to know more about life in Trešnjevka: how people lived, learnt, worked out, hang out, rambled around, ate, etc. Our virtual collection contains almost 600 photographs, clothing items, documents, memories and various objects that tell a less known history of the neighborhood – the history of the working class, students, and families; the history of an everyday life, gatherings, and concerts.
We will be waiting for you on Wednesday, on June 4, from 3 – 7 PM at Nova BAZA (nova Cesta 66), where we will be collecting your items and stories. We will take photos of your items and return them to you immediately.
We invite you to browse our collection. For more information, go to www.muzejsusjedstvatresnjevka.org, and if you have questions, feel free to write to us at blok@blok.hr or via Facebook.
