A small evening intervention in the window of the New BAZA gallery on the occasion of the 90th anniversary marking the beginning of the construction of a housing project by the First Croatian Savings Bank

September 18 – 25, 2025; 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Nova BAZA, Nova Cesta 66

Days are getting shorter and our window has turned into a projector screen!

At the initiative of the Council of the Trešnjevka-North District, we mark the 90th anniversary of the beginning of the construction of the working-class neighborhood by the First Croatian Savings Bank. From our virtual collection, we bring to Nova BAZA a photo-album that carefully documents the construction of a house in plot number 34. Thank you to Mr. Branislav Purgarić for sharing his family history with us! And for an easygoing start of the season, instead of serious, long sentences about the housing project, the photos are accompanied by verse to warm our souls before the winter immerse.

Take a stroll down Nova Cesta and cast an eye on our window! In addition, we will continue to collect contributions for the Trešnjevka Neighborhood Museum virtual collection. If you want to share a memory with us, please contact us at blok@blok.hr! We also invite you to follow our Living Heritage program: On October 17, we will present a new production of the German collective LIGNA, which will take us to the Zagreb Train Station, followed by a project on the residential area of Trešnjevka called Srednjaci by visual artist Maja Marković and art historian Lidija Butković Mićin.

Visual design and interventions by: Ivan Klis and Damir Prizmić

The intervention in the window is part of the Trešnjevka Neighbourhood Museum Virtual Collection program, which is financially supported by the City of Zagreb. BLOK’ annual program for 2025 is supported by the Kultura Nova Foundation.
