11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Nova BAZA, Nova cesta 66

It is the end of the 1970s. We are in the 6 Domany Brothers’ Street, in the kitchen of one of the apartments in the skyscraper. It is equipped with then popular dark green kitchen elements. At the time of moving in, there was a classic white kitchen in the apartment. The 2 bedroom apartment is too small for the family of four that lives there, so at night the living room is transformed into a bedroom.

From November 20 until December 13, at the Nova BAZA Gallery, you can see the exhibition ‘Vertical Life’ on the skyscrapers in the Domany Brothers’ Street by artist Maje Marković and art historian Lidija Butković Mićin.

In the meantime, we continue to discover and collect stories from Trešnjevka’s history through our virtual collection. It doesn’t matter whether you live in a high-rise building or a family house in Trešnjevka, in Srednjaci or Voltino – we are interested in your memories of how people once lived, studied, worked, exercised, strolled, and ate in Trešnjevka. Our virtual collection has so far published more than 600 photographs, garments, documents, personal belongings, and other items that tell the not so familiar history of the neighborhood – that of working-class, schools, sports, family, everyday history, housing, and socializing.

We are waiting for you on Monday, December 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nova BAZA (Nova cesta 66), where we will collect your contributions and stories. We will take photos of your belongings on the spot and return them to you immediately.
