SATURDAY, JUNE 3, AT 11 A.M., NOVA BAZA, NOVA CESTA 66

LED BY: TEUTA GATOLIN

Do you remember the big tree at the intersection of Tratinska and Nova Cesta? And the house with circular windows in Magazinska street? Constant, fast, and unexpected changes of her neighborhood have inspired artist Teuta Gatolin to begin taking photographs, digitally recording the space surrounding her, thus creating new, virtual spaces that contain layers which have disappeared in the real space. The artist created this workshop for all those who are interested in getting to know her methodology, and who wish to record scenes from the neighborhood that may soon disappear.

The focus of the workshop is on the neighborhood’s micro locations, and it consists of a themed walk around the Trešnjevka Thermal power station, sports center Dom sportova, and surrounding streets. We are going to engage in a conversation on Trešnjevka’s recognizable features, and decide which parts of the public space we wish to archive. Then, we will document the chosen parts of the neighborhood and/or its buildings by creating a series of photographs, and we will get acquainted with photogrammetry, a technique of creating 3D data from 2D photographs. Virtual 3D models generated from the workshop participants’ photographs will be a part of the exhibition on archiving Trešnjevka’s public space. The exhibition will take place in October 2023, at NOVA BAZA.

Previous knowledge is not a precondition to participate in the workshop. Participants are expected to bring their own digital camera, or a smartphone with a camera. Since we are going to take a lot of photographs, please charge your phones and free up space on them, in order to be able to store the photographs.

This workshop, completely free of charge, is intended for people of all ages. Short applications containing name, last name, age, and a short motivation should be sent to BLOK@BLOK.HR. We kindly ask you to also explain how your are related to Trešnjevka (ex or current resident, place of work, family connections, etc.)
